For the next three weeks, Smorgasburg LA will be marking Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month by celebrating AAPI vendors while also welcoming pop-up guests to the market. It kicks off on Sunday, May 15, with DJ collective Brownies & Lemonade popping up in the beer garden and Chinatown cookbook shop Now Serving in the center shopping aisle.
The following week, on May 22, Smorgasburg LA will be home to a massive AAPI Market curated by AAPI LA, featuring baked goods, savory foods and merchants from vendors like Brother’s Sushi, A-Sha Noodles, Chef Shirley Chung, Domi, Flouring, Gold House and Valerie Confections. There also will be a live music stage and mahjong tables by Ricebox. For the grand finale on May 29, Sundae School and Fly By Jing will pop up featuring ice cream from Wanderlust Creamery.
Starting Wednesday, May 25, Hollywood rooftop hotspot Bar Lis launches Femme Follies, a weekly burlesque series with the founder of the popular revue Beauty of Burlesque, Miss Tosh. Inspired by Parisian burlesque culture and 1960s-era Moulin Rouge, the weekly event will take place from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m., featuring live performances throughout the evening.
Femme Follies joins the lounge’s existing programming, including Tuesday’s live modern Jazz night, Jazz Eclectic LA, local and international DJ performances Thursday through Saturday. Bar Lis features both indoor and open-air spaces to eat, drink and dance with views of the Hollywood Hills and Downtown LA. While walk-ins are welcome, reservations are highly encouraged.
