A brush hearth blackened about 50 acres in Irwindale Tuesday.
The fireplace broke out within the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Space and was burning in two acres of brush at about 5:25 p.m., in response to the Los Angeles County Fireplace Division. The fireplace grew to twenty acres, then to 50 acres by about 6:25 p.m.
Crews stopped the hearth’s progress by about 7:05 p.m., the hearth division reported. Crews remained on the scene to extinguish remaining sizzling spots.
No constructions had been threatened by the hearth and no injures had been reported.
