Charmaine Garcia Injured, Driver Killed in Crash on Highway 29 [Lake County, CA]


Fatal Auto Collision near Argonaut Road in Lake County; Charmaine Garcia Hurt

LAKE COUNTY, CA (September 7, 2021) – Thursday morning, Charmaine Garcia was injured and another woman was killed in a crash on Highway 29.

The crash occurred shortly after 10:00 a.m., on the highway near Argonaut Road, as per report.

According to the authorities, Charmaine Garcia, 66, was driving a 2016 Jeep Cherokee heading north at about 50 miles per hour. Meanwhile, the driver of a 1998 Mazda Protege was heading south with a speed of 55 miles per hour.

As per CHP, the Mazda driver lost control and drifted left into the northbound traffic lane, directly into the path of Garcia’s Jeep.

Due to the impact, Charmaine Garcia sustained serious injuries, including a suspected fractured foot and broken ribs. She was later sent to Sutter Lakeside Hospital for further treatment.

However, the Mazda driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released.

Highway 29 was closed for a brief time before the road reopened just after 1:00 p.m. According to reports, both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.

Meanwhile, the crash is still under active investigation.
