Christian Mendoza, Katie-Jay Scott Dead in Sepulveda Boulevard Crash


Four-Vehicle Collision on Sepulva Boulevard Kills Three, Injures At Least 3

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA (December 6, 2021) Christian Mendoza and Katie-Jay Scott died after a four-vehicle collision on Sepulveda Boulevard.

Authorities said around 9:46 p.m., they received word of a crash near Sepulveda Boulevard and Marine Avenue.

Mendoza, 48, of Redondo Beach who was in one of the vehicles, died at the scene.

In another vehicle, Scott, 40, also of Redondo Beach, died alongside a man in his 50s. The latter is yet to be named pending notification of his relatives.

Meanwhile, at least three more persons were hospitalized, one of them in critical condition.

Cars involved included a BMW, a VW and a Prius. Debris from the collision filled Sepulveda Boulevard, leading to a portion of it closed for a time.

Authorities are still investigating the events that led to the crash. Initially, they suspect speed was a factor, resulting in a chain reaction.
