Two Woman Dead after Fatal Accident near Backus Road
WILLOW SPRINGS, CA (September 16, 2021) – Friday, Francisca Pineda and Maria Gonzalez were killed in a collision on Willow Springs Road.
The crash occurred just before 3:15 p.m., just north of Backus Road. Officers arrived to the scene shortly after.
According to authorities, Francisca Noemi Pineda, 62, of Mojave, and Maria De Los Angeles Oliveros Gonzalez, 68, of Palmdale died at the scene.
A Honda Odyssey and a Hyundai Sonata crashed head-on for unclear reasons, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officials, however, did not provide further details about the crash. Pineda and Gonzalez were both passengers in one of the involved cars.
Meanwhile, the circumstances leading up to the deadly collision are still being investigated.
