Man Killed in Pedestrian Collision near Montair Avenue in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA (January 6, 2022) – Friday evening, a male pedestrian was fatally struck in a hit-and-run accident on Atherton Street.
The incident happened around 10:17 p.m., in the area of Atherton Street and Montair Avenue. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.
According to a preliminary investigations, the driver of a silver sedan struck the man crossing northbound on Atherton Street. Then, the sedan driver fled the scene before authorities arrived.
Upon arrival, police officers located one male adult in the roadway with serious injuries. The Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived and took the pedestrian to a local hospital in critical condition.
Eventually, the man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on December 27, 2021. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office is working to notify the next of kin.
