2 Injured in Head-On Collision near Highway 46 in Paso Robles
PASO ROBLES, CA (October 8, 2021) – Tuesday morning, 27-year-old Mondragon Estrada was hurt in a big-rig crash on Highway 41.
The crash happened around 6:03 a.m., near Highway 46. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after receiving multiple dispatch calls.
Officers say Estrada was driving a Peterbilt truck south on the highway, when he drifted into the northbound lanes. There, he collided head-on with a Honda driven by a 62-year-old Paso Robles resident.
Due to the impact, the Honda crashed into metal guardrail on the west side of the road. Meanwhile, the truck traveled down an embankment where it overturned and came to a rest on its passenger side.
Medics flew Estrada to Sierra Vista Regional Hospital by Mercy air. The other driver, identified as Mutshnick, was taken to the same hospital by San Luis Air Ambulance.
Investigators say both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Moreover, impairment was ruled out as a potential factor.
At this time, an active investigation is still underway.
