California will distribute another round of its “Golden State Stimulus” checks this Friday, with more than 1 million people expected to receive the payment.
The California Franchise Tax board said it expects to send out 1.15 million stimulus payments, totaling $857 million.
The payments have been going out to Californians in rounds, which began on Sept. 1, with the expectation of most payments going out by Oct. 31.
To qualify for the payment Californians cannot have earned more than $75,000 in wages or California Adjusted Gross Income. They also have to have been a California resident for at least half of 2020 and be a California resident when the payment goes out. A final requirement was to have their 2020 taxes by Oct. 15, 2021.
The payment amounts will be similar to the first Golden State Stimulus, where qualifying Californians would receive $600.
While there was an option for direct deposits, payments began getting mailed out on Oct. 5 to those who did not have the deposit feature set up.
Those who filed an extension for their 2020 taxes may still have to wait at least 45 after the date they filed their taxes to receive their stimulus payment. These remaining payments will likely be sent out by mail instead of direct deposit, until January 11, 2022.
