The Insider’s Guide to CBD

Here’s the scoop – not all CBD is made the same or is meant to make you feel the same. The reason behind this is very simple, different types of CBD have different types of cannabinoids. These cannabinoids are meant to have different reactions within your body. There’s a lot more things that you might not be aware of when it comes to CBD. However, there’s no need to worry! Here’s our insider’s guide to CBD.

Hemp Seed Oil

Hemp seed oil is not the same as CBD and does not provide the same effects. Despite the fact that they both come from the hemp plant, they are very different products. The seeds of the hemp plant are used to make hemp seed oil. However, the seeds don’t have a significant amount of CBD or THC in them, but they do include a lot of minerals, fatty acids, protein, and vitamins.

CBD on the other hand is a hemp extract derived from the hemp plant’s stems, leaves, stalks, and flowers. Also, unlike hemp seed oil, this type of industrial hemp is farmed for the purpose of producing CBD. In other words, it’s of higher quality because it’s grown solely to make CBD. After the hemp is harvested, it is ground into a fine powder, which is then used in the CBD extraction process.

Legality

Hemp seed oil is legal in all 50 states because it contains little to no trace of both CBD and THC. Also, It has been discovered to have particular nutrients that are useful when eaten or applied to the skin. This means that Hemp seed oil products can be found on store shelves without the approval of any particular legislation.

Despite the fact that CBD became legal in 2018, certain states still restrict its sale or consumption. Individual states have the authority to set their own laws, and some have chosen to ignore Federal law and made the sale or use of certain CBD products illegal; nevertheless, many local governments are currently attempting to regulate the businesses that sell CBD.

Different Types of CBD

Hemp, like cannabis, has a variety of strains grown for various purposes. CBD strains include Indica, Sativa, and Hybrid varieties, each with its own set of benefits. Also, CBD extracts are broken down into different categories; they are separated into these different categories based on how many hemp properties were left in after the CBD was extracted. The 3 major categories include: Isolate, Broad Spectrum, and Full Spectrum.

Strains

Some strains of CBD are meant to be taken at certain times of the day. This is usually attributed with the specific type of strain properties. Although most CBD found in Tincture and Vape Cartridges are usually a distillate; the added Terpenes are the determining factor along with other added ingredients that enhance the effects of that specific strain.

You can expect to find an Indica strain to have additional Terpenes and ingredients such as Limonene or Melatonin. Since Indica is related to relaxation, the added Terpenes and ingredients work hand in hand in order to enhance that desired experience. The same would apply to Sativa strains, and Hybrid strains for CBD.

Extracts

When CBD is extracted a lot of the other Hemp cannabinoids are left out. There are many benefits associated with the Hemp plant. Here is a brief overview of all 3 major CBD extract categories:

Full Spectrum CBD

In Full Spectrum CBD, none of the cannabinoids have been removed or isolated. This means it can have small traces of THC (less than 0.03%), CBN, CBG, natural fatty acids, Terpenes, and a variety of other natural occurring chemical compounds.

Broad Spectrum CBD

This type of extract tends to leave in less cannabinoids than Full Spectrum CBD. However, you’re still able to get the same amount of rich hemp properties as Full Spectrum, but just less of it. This is more of the middle ground between Full Spectrum and Isolate.

CBD Isolate

A CBD Isolate is CBD that has been isolated from all the other Hemp properties. This would be ideal for someone who wants to enjoy CBD with little to no traces of THC or other cannabinoids. However, some cannabinoids are usually added to the finished product in order to enhance the flavor and experience.
